Caledonia, Mississippi

District #1 is located in the northeast corner of Lowndes County.  The department covers approximately 50 square miles.  The department is bordered by Lowndes County District #2 on the southwest and District #3 on the south side and Lamar County Alabama on the east side.  The department protects a population base of 3,000 persons and it is growing.

District #1 has four stations with the primary station located in downtown Caledonia Mississippi.

The Department has four Class 1 Engines , a rescue truck , brush truck and one tanker.  The Fire Protection area is rated as a Class 8 and 9 by the Mississippi Rating Bureau.

District #1 has several sets of the Jaws of Life for use in the district. 

District #3 and District #1 have a joint response area in the area south of Yellow Creek and north of Highway 50.  This allows both departments to maintain their insurance rating for this area.

The District #1 Fire Chief is Tommy Collier.  The department has 33 active firefighters, 5 EMT's and 15 Medical First Responders.
